Mission
To build up the leather community with education and social opportunities. Rudis was founded on the principle that everyone has the right to wear, discuss, and enjoy leather in a judgment free atmosphere. Our organization prides itself in offering members and the leather community social opportunities to express themselves and become educated on leather culture, both past and present.
About the Organization
History of RUDIS
RUDIS began in 2016 as a new way to participate in the Leather community by creating a safe space in which those curious about Leather could wear their gear in a welcoming environment. Conversations and discussions identified a desire in the community for a leather club that respected and honored leather history while simultaneously making leather more welcoming and accessible to different people. On October 31, 2016, RUDIS LEATHER SOCIETY was officially incorporated with these goals and desires in mind.
What is a RUDIS?
A RUDIS is a wooden sword given to a Roman gladiator symbolizing that he has earned his freedom, representing each member’s freedom to express themselves. The laurel crown that surrounds the sword on our emblem symbolizes victory and how each member supports each other.
Evolution of RUDIS
RUDIS began as a “Men’s Leather Society.” Through positive growth, we began shifting focus to support the entire leather community as a whole. Soon after its foundation, RUDIS adopted an open, gender-inclusive, membership policy. Our new vision is to be free, educate, and create!
Be Free: The freedom to become what you are. To become the fullest expression of yourself.
Educate: To provide information that develops or amplifies your personal growth in leather, kink, or fetish.
Create: To create one inclusive, gender affirming environment, where you can be free and explore.
We are very proud of and thank all RUDIS members for their continued contributions to the community. Our goal is to represent, support, and encourage a welcoming environment for anyone who shares the same interests as we do.
